Employment Type: Full Time – no contracts – no 3rd parties – on-site only, GC or USC only

Schedule: 35 Hours per Week

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have experience with most or all of the following:

  • IBM DB2 Version 12 (or newer) administration on IBM z/OS
  • Enterprise mainframe database administration in production environments
  • DB2 installation, configuration, upgrades, and software migrations
  • Database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Performance tuning using DB2 utilities such as RUNSTATS and REORG
  • Database monitoring, health checks, and troubleshooting
  • Supporting production releases, database changes, and application deployments
  • IBM InfoSphere Data Replication administration
  • Working closely with application development and infrastructure teams
  • Experience supporting large, mission critical enterprise applications

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IBM DB2 Database Administrator to support enterprise mainframe applications running on IBM z/OS. This role is responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, security, and performance of critical DB2 databases while supporting software releases, production operations, and ongoing system improvements.

The successful candidate will work with development and infrastructure teams to ensure database environments remain stable, optimized, and highly available.

Responsibilities

  • Administer IBM DB2 databases running in an IBM z/OS environment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain DB2 database environments.
  • Plan and execute database migrations associated with application releases.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and restoration activities.
  • Execute routine database maintenance, including performance optimization and space management.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot database issues affecting development, testing, and production systems.
  • Support production deployments, database updates, and data correction activities.
  • Administer IBM InfoSphere Data Replication to ensure continuous availability of replicated data.
  • Coordinate database changes with application development, operations, and technical support teams.
  • Create and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and validate database recovery processes.
  • Work directly with software vendors to resolve technical issues and implement recommended fixes.
  • Develop and execute technical testing to verify database functionality and software updates prior to production implementation.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline with at least four years of relevant experience in enterprise database administration or complex infrastructure environments; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in another field with at least eight years of directly related experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Extensive experience administering IBM DB2 in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of database recovery strategies and high availability.
  • Experience supporting large scale production applications.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams.

Additional Information

  • Full Time position – onsite – 35 hour work week
  • Competitive compensation based on experience: $75,000.00 to $160,000.00 annually
