Salary Range: $75,000 – $180,000 annually (based on experience)

Location: Fully on-site – New York, NY

Work Schedule: 35 Hours Weekly (Day Shift) and 24/7 Availability for critical incidents

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and seasoned IT Infrastructure Manager to oversee our Mainframe Systems team within the Shared Systems Division. In this leadership role, you will manage day-to-day operations for the IBM mainframe computer system, including program products, subsystems, and storage. You will be responsible for task assignments, performance management, and setting strategic goals for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Mainframe team in z/OS administration, performance management, and hardware configuration.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensure robust monitoring, and lead disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Research and implement strategic mainframe technologies to ensure systems meet high-availability SLAs.
  • Analyze performance data and perform comprehensive daily, monthly, and yearly capacity planning.
  • Develop and manage project plans for large and small-scale hardware and software upgrades.
  • Mentor the team to ensure projects are completed within strict timelines.
  • Maintain current software versions and manage maintenance schedules.
  • Act as the primary liaison for hardware and software vendors regarding capacity and procurement.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to match organizational needs.
  • Author and manage all technical documentation and procedural manuals for mainframe systems.
  • Develop long-term financial plans for hardware/software life cycles, including end-of-life replacements and consolidation initiatives for cost reduction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in datacenter engineering, cloud engineering, or complex IT.
  • 20+ years of experience managing infrastructure in large-scale environments.
  • Deep expertise in IBM mainframe z/OS (operating systems, control, structure, and security).
    • Note: Candidates with exceptionally strong experience in AIX/Linux/Unix systems and enterprise storage will also be considered.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the US (Citizens, Green Card holders, or those with a valid Work Authorization visa). We do not provide sponsorship for H1B or Canadian work visas.
  • Availability: Must be able to provide off-hours coverage for scheduled upgrades and participate in 24/7 troubleshooting for critical production incidents.
