This is a W2 Contract role, fully remote.

Responsibilities:

● Design and implement scalable, reliable backend systems – from architecture through production deployment.

● Harden and optimize the platform for stability, performance, and release readiness.

● Lead implementation of backend services, APIs, and data models with a strong focus on maintainability and versioning strategies.

● Set technical standards and establish best practices across code quality, architecture, and system design.

● Act as a hands-on technical leader reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and improving performance where needed.

● Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and Design to translate business problems into well-structured technical solutions.

● Ask the right technical questions early to clarify requirements and reduce downstream risk.

● Help define engineering roadmaps, technical milestones, and delivery metrics.

● Improve development workflows and processes to increase team velocity and reliability.

Qualifications:

● 10+ years of professional backend engineering experience building production systems.

● Proven experience designing and implementing complex software systems end-to-end.

● Understands Database Modeling, managing complex Database Transactions, and ensuring data integrity across distributed systems.

● Strong experience with API design and versioning strategies.

● Deep knowledge of data modeling, normalization, query optimization, and indexing.

● Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.

● Experience building REST and/or GraphQL services.

● Strong proficiency in a modern backend language Node.js preferred).

● Experience shipping highly reliable systems in cloud environments.

● Ability to operate independently while contributing to broader technical direction.

● Experience working across cross-functional teams to deliver complex product features.
